  1. Not to be rude or anything but Theodore is not the smart one. Theodore is the smaller chunkyer chipmunk. It's Simon thats the smart one. And sorry I butcher names and spelling but not wordings.

  2. You mentioned selling the inscription off hands. On my realm the Iron-bound tomes will go for 80G if you're lucky. The AH on my economy is flooded with scribes hocking their wares. It's beyond absurd. At any given time there's 10+ iron bound tomes and everybody is undercutting and reposting constantly.

Which brings me to my question. I think I have identified the "head honcho" AH guy on my realm. I added him and one of his alts to the friends list of all my toons so I can keep track of him. This guy is pretty well known..people talk about him in trade chat, kiss his ass, talk about how he's "an AH god" and all this (I will dethrone him one day). When I'm on my various toons, trying to level professions to max, doing dailies, etc I see this guy come online and go offline constantly, 24/7, no matter what time of day it is. He'll come on for about 30-60 minutes at a time, then log off for 15-20 minutes, then log back in. Rinse, repeat. When he's offline I try to go and repost my stuff but when he's online he'll cancel and repost all his auctions. This guy is in most markets...gems, glyphs, epics, leather, etc.

I want to make money in the AH but I don't want to watch my auctions and repost all day. I want to actually play the game as well.

What's a good way to deal with AH campers like this?

  3. regarding the viability of transmute spec vs. elixer or potion spec., are there differing proc rates for the different specs? I had transmute spec for a little while, but due to the low amounts of actual transmutes I was performing daily, the proc rate seemed abysmal. Compared to elixer procs (melee/spell flasks i'm referring to here), the "free" profit seemed to be much more accessible.

    Thoughts?

    Keep up the good work.

  5. Scott:

I recently leveled alchemy to one of my mains and took the transmute spec at first -- however, as raw red gems go for 90-110g on my realm and as you said the actual proc rate is beyond shitty -- it didn't turn out to be profitable at all.

So I switched to Elixir master seeing how there's plenty of raiders on my realm, and flasks seem to sell really well. I can definitely recommend Elixir mastery to anyone who has either herbalism or can manage to buy cheap herbs.

That brings me to another point. Until recently, I used to have mining and blacksmithing on my main. Mining saronite and transmuting them to titanium bars was nice profit, but smelting titansteel was a real bomb. Titansteel still sells for 99-120g depending on day per bar on my server. But I dropped mining for engineering for PvE reasons :(

Guess what I'm moaning about is, that it seems like crafting professions don't make a whole lot money in comparison to gathering ones at the moment. Saronite bars go for 50g a stack at times when a few months back they were like a couple of G over vendor price. Herbs cost like mountains of gold. Eternal elements are expensive as hell.

Do you guys reckon things will change, or is this a permanent trend?

  6. Hi,

I'm an orc Warrior(44) in the process of the R.A.F. program. As you might now, the 3x experience bonus can occasionally give problems when it comes to buying spells/mounts etc.

So, I decided to take the gold I had (100g) and try my hand at flipping/resale in the AH. This worked out quite well, and I was able to increase my starting capita by sevenfold in one weekend.

Now, as I don't have any lvl 80 characters yet, I have no idea what goods I should be looking for. Right now I'm mostly doing Gems/Copper/Leather/Cobalt/Saronite/Titansteel.

Maybe you guys could talk a little about the concept of resale/flipping and what goods one should be looking for.

    Thanks in advance,
    Toffguy

  10. regarding the leather botters -- i assume that when they exist they just craft with the leather they get and vendor it, thus not affecting markets
